Absolutely = This is what we love to hear! This musical is for all levels of theater, dance and singing experience. If the closet thing you have done to dancing is throwing a basketball in a hoop, come join! If Troy Bolton could do his high school musical, then you should definitely do ours! :) (If you're new to musicals, go watch High School Musical on Netflix for reference)
Rehearsals start in March and go through May (not including JSD Spring Break). Rehearsals will generally fall on Tuesdays 4-6pm, Thursdays 7-10pm, Fridays 4-7pm, and Saturdays 9am - noon or 1-4pm.
We encourage you to plan your after school jobs and other conflicts around all possible rehearsals the best you can. However, most cast members will NOT be needed at every rehearsal until the end of April. A specific rehearsal calendar will be given out early in the rehearsal process with more details. Please plan accordingly.

Not necessarily. Some years we don't even hold Callbacks. If we do, callbacks will be only for a few 10 - 12 Graders on Friday, February 20 from 4-6pm. If you are in those grades we might call you back but we might not.
However, if you do not get a callback, fear not! Not getting called back doesn't mean we didn't think you were amazing or didn't have a wonderful voice. You will still be cast in a great spot in the musical.
Yes! come join our show, but you must promise something. If they break up with you, you cannot - literally CANNOT - drop the show. If you audition, no matter the reason, you are committing to this show. It is unprofessional to drop the show because your girlfriend broke your heart. If you tell Alyssa, she will buy you ice cream, but you must stay in the show. Channel your broken heart into the sad numbers: Your acting will be amazing.
We love having enthusiastic go-getters join our musical! Practice for your audition and have an open mind. Everyone in our cast gets the opportunity to sing their own solo.
We also love those who've been with us for years and years and are hoping for a special lead. Initial cast lists can be misleading and a lot of extra opportunities arise during the rehearsals for our show - please let us know you'd love extra chances to shine. We work hard to share those extra parts with those who are good sports during the audition process.
(Alyssa also wants to mention it couldn't hurt to bring chocolate to auditions and leave it at the front table labeled "Alyssa of the Website FAQ's". She'll put in a good word. =)
